Having very high levels of expertise and experience, the company knows which soil characteristics
are optimal for an olive grove and depending on the composition of the soil,
as well as the native flora among the olive trees, which are the appropriate techniques to implement
for the optimal quality of production.
In recent years the company has invested steadily in acquiring strictly selected olive groves,
giving specific emphasis in the soil characteristics of each region.
Up to now, the company implements and develops a combination of modern and traditional techniques
in the 4 different olive groves under its ownership. The outcome of such a specialised care is that each of the olive groves
has its unique character and its unique rates of growth and production.
Subsequently, each of the olive groves produces olive oil with different culinary and fragrance palette,
as well different composition of nutrients.
Therefore, the specialised and unique handling of the olive crop from each olive grove
was the only option and so was the design of a different packaging for each one of these.
In each of the olive groves the crop is collected in 2 time points,
the early collection that produces the fresh extra virgin green olive oil
and the later one that produces the extra virgin olive oil.
Commercially, these 2 different products from the same grove are packaged in the same style ceramic container
and they are distinguished by the colour of the container;
white for the extra virgin green olive oil with the word premium distinct description
and black for the extra virgin olive oil using the word classic to determine the difference of the final product.
The source of inspiration for the design of each ceramic container
was the name and the history of each region the olive groves originated from,
as well as the unique culinary palette of each olive oil
Regional name that originates from the word kaminos (kiln)
The region was named after the pre-medieval argyle kilns that were operating in the region,
for the processing of clay and the manufacturing of clay pottery.
The shape and design of the ancient Greek conical amphorae in a Doric and modern style
was the source of inspiration for the design and creation of the ceramic container for this specific olive grove.
It represents in a historic and culinary way the balanced and spiky (at the back of the throat)
sensation of the olive oil from this specific grove.
Archaeological excavations in the region have revealed ruins from the Mycenaean civilization.
The regional name Psili Rachi (meaning Thin Back)
reflects the morphology of the region, i.e. region with hills and slopes.
A pre-requisite for the design of the container for this olive grove
was the deep study of the formalism and the art of the Mycenaean era.
With strong influences from the patterns of the artful golden jewellery, which were excavated in the region,
the futuristic shape of the drop prevailed.
The ceramic container for the olive grove in the region of Psili Rachi
depicts directly the morphology of the region, has evident artistic characteristics of the Mycenaean civilisation,
while it communicates effectively the culinary notes of the olive oil;
distinctive of the rich and harmoniously complex culinary palette with a characteristic sweet aftertaste.
The river was named after the word “peiro” meaning pierce, as the river runs through the mountains of the region.
Conceptually, the figure of the container would have to recreate the concise cylindrical pattern of a pin,
along with artistic-decorative aspects from the olive oil (carved olive tree branches)
and the aerial view of a river with tributaries.
It was on these conditions that the ceramic container for the olive grove of the region Peiros was designed.
This particular grove produces olive oil with intense and spicy taste from the olive crop and fragrances from freshly cut herbs.
